River Crest Elementary PTO By Laws
Article 1- Name
The name of this non-profit organization shall be The River Crest Parent Teacher Organization (RC PTO).
Article 2- Purposes
The Mission of The RC PTO shall be to:
a. Enhance the quality of educational opportunities available to the students at River Crest Elementary School;
b. Support students and staff at River Crest by contributing volunteer time and financial support;
c. Support and promote the educational concerns of the community;
d. Reinforce conservation and Environmentally Friendly focus of River Crest Elementary School.
Article 3- Membership
Membership shall be open to all parents/guardians/teachers of students at River Crest Elementary.
Article 4- Officers
Section I
The officers of the organization shall consist of President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer and be known as the Executive
Board.
Section II
All officers will be elected for a minimum term of one year.
Section III
Vacancies on the Executive Board shall be filled for the remainder of the unexpired term by the vote of the membership.
Article 5- Officer’s Duties
Section I
The President shall preside at all meetings of the RC PTO and of the Executive Board.
Section II
The Vice-President shall assist the President in all duties. In absence of the President, the Vice-President shall perform all duties of the President.
Section III
The Secretary shall keep the minutes of all regular and Executive Board meetings and report to the membership at each meeting. The Secretary shall perform such other duties as the Executive Board may require.
Section IV
The Treasurer shall receive and receipt all monies of the RC PTO and shall deposit all money in the name of the River Crest
Parent Teacher Organization in the bank(s) selected by the Executive Board. All monies deposited shall be withdrawn only by check signed by the President and the Treasurer for such purposes as required by the Executive Board. The Treasurer shall prepare and submit a financial statement monthly and at the end of the school year to the RC PTO and shall report to the RC PTO membership at each meeting.
Article 6- Committees
There shall be such standing and special committees as the Executive Board may authorize; the President is an ex-officio member of all committees. The purpose and activities of any committee shall be determined by the Executive Board and they shall annually review the achievements of all committees.
Article 7- Meetings
The RC PTO will meet monthly. The day and time of the
meetings will be set each year by the Executive Board so as to best facilitate attendance. Special meetings may be called by the President. Should regularly held meeting dates and times be changed during the academic year, adequate notification will be sent to the community.
Article 8- Annual Election
All officers shall be elected annually before May 15 and shall assume office on the last day of school.
Article 9- Amendments
These by-laws may be amended, revised or changed by a two-thirds vote of the members voting on such proposed change. Proposed amendments to these bylaws must be presented at a regular meeting prior to the regular meeting at which the changes are to be voted on.
Article 10- Dissolution
Upon dissolution of the organization, the officers shall, after paying or making provision for the payment of all of the liabilities of the organization, dispose of all of the assets of the organization exclusively for the purpose of the organization in such manner, or to such organization(s)organized and operated exclusively for charitable, educational, religious or scientific purposes.
